How do I log a meal?
Tap the "+" button and select "Log Meal". Enter the foods you ate, the time, and any notes. You can also use the quick-add feature to log commonly eaten foods faster.
How does the correlation engine work?
The correlation engine analyzes your meal and symptom data over time to find statistical patterns. It checks multiple time windows (since symptoms can appear hours after eating) and accounts for confounding variables like stress and sleep. The more data you log, the more accurate the results become.
Is my health data sent to any server?
No. All your data — meals, symptoms, correlations, and reports — is stored 100% locally on your device. Nothing is ever uploaded to any server. There is no cloud sync and no account required.
How do I manage or cancel my Pro subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through your device's app store. On iOS, go to Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions. On Android, open Google Play > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.
The app is crashing or not working properly
Try closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, make sure you have the latest version installed from the App Store or Google Play. If problems continue, contact us with your device model and OS version.
Can I share my reports with my doctor?
Yes! Pro users can generate detailed PDF reports that summarize your meal-symptom correlations. These reports are designed to be shared with healthcare professionals to support your dietary discussions.
How long does it take to see results?
The correlation engine needs sufficient data to identify patterns. We recommend logging meals and symptoms consistently for at least 2-3 weeks before expecting meaningful correlation results. The more consistently you log, the better the analysis.
Is this app a replacement for medical advice?
No. Food Symptom Detective is a tracking and analysis tool, not a medical device. The correlations it identifies are statistical patterns, not medical diagnoses. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making dietary changes.
